A safe route, not a worn desire line
Uncontrolled roof traffic is how membranes fail and how people end up walking the wrong side of a roof light. A specified walkway gives facilities and contractor teams a single, obvious route to plant, with slip-resistant decking and, where needed, integrated guardrails. Power Comms Structures installs modular walkway systems on industrial, commercial and telecoms rooftops across the UK.
Non-penetrating support feet spread load and protect the waterproofing. Layouts are built around real access: from the roof hatch or ladder, around PV and AHUs, and up to the working position. Step-overs keep pipework and cable trays from becoming trip points.
Built for maintenance, not just handover photos
Walkways have to work in wet weather, with tools in hand, for people who may only visit the roof twice a year. We use slip-resistant aluminium decking and set out levels so the route stays practical. Working platforms can be included at frequent service points so teams are not balancing on a grate while changing a filter.
Where collective protection is required, guardrails and gates are integrated into the walkway rather than added as an afterthought. That keeps the system as one inspectable installation instead of two trades arguing over interfaces.
Survey, install, handover
Send a roof plan or a set of photos and we will confirm whether a non-penetrating system is suitable, or whether a structural fix is the honest answer. Installation is coordinated with other roof works so we are not trafficking a new membrane unnecessarily. Handover includes the as-built route and any inspection requirements.
Walkways are often packaged with lifelines or guardrails as a complete rooftop access solution. If that is the scope, we will price and programme it as one package with one point of contact.
