Structural Steelwork

Primary frames, rooftop antenna and sector steel, bracing and support steels — lifted to the roof, bolted and finished by a team used to live sites and tight programmes.

Structural steel frame installation with crane-assisted lifting

Recent installations

Sector steelwork, Brownhill Road, Catford

September 2026. Steel lifted to the roof, then sector 1 and sector 2 completed: main antenna poles, base steel, bracing steels and bracing bracketry, bolted to the fabrication drawings.

Sector steelwork, Eastern Avenue, Ilford

October 2026. Antenna pole brackets, sector yokes, brace poles, RRU poles and toe boards on a live rooftop, with bolted connections checked and torque-marked.

Installation that respects the programme

Power Comms Structures installs structural steel for commercial, industrial and telecoms sites. The work covers primary frames and support steels, and the rooftop packages that keep a radio site in service: antenna poles, sector steel, bracing steels and bracketry, RRU poles, yokes and toe boards.

Quality is in the connections. Members are checked against the fabrication drawings, bolted connections are tightened and torque-marked where the specification requires it, and line, level and plumb are confirmed before the next trade arrives. Steel is lifted to the roof and set from MEWP or scaffold, on the programme the principal contractor actually has.

Rooftop sector steel on live sites

Recent steel has been on occupied rooftops. At Brownhill Road, Catford, in September 2026 the team lifted the steel to the roof and completed sectors 1 and 2: main antenna poles, base steel, bracing steels and bracing bracketry. At Eastern Avenue, Ilford, in October 2026 the package was antenna pole brackets, sector yokes, brace poles, RRU poles and toe boards, with the bolts checked and torque-marked.

The same team still erects primary frames where the job is a building, including crane-assisted lifts on refurbishment sites. Rooftop telecoms steel and building frames are planned the same way: drawings, a lift method, and a finish that does not leave snags for the rigger or the following trade.

One accountable steel team

If you need a specialist installer rather than a full design-and-build steel package, that is the role we fill. Send the steel drawings, programme window and site constraints. We will confirm labour, plant, method and the documentation you need for the CDM file.

Structural steelwork is frequently combined with rooftop access, ladders and fall protection on the same project. We can resource those packages together so you are not coordinating three subcontractors for what is essentially one site team.

Typical scope

  • Steel frames and primary structures
  • Antenna poles and sector steelwork
  • Bracing steels and bracketry
  • RRU poles, yokes and stand-off poles
  • Rooftop toe boards
  • Support steels and beams
  • Bolted connections, checked and torqued

Questions about this work

What rooftop telecoms steel do you install?

Antenna poles, sector steel, bracing steels and bracketry, RRU poles, yokes, stand-off poles and toe boards. Members are checked against the fabrication drawings, and bolted connections are tightened and torque-marked where the specification requires it.

Do you install steel on live, occupied rooftops?

Yes. Recent work has been on occupied telecoms roofs: steel lifted to the roof, sectors completed from MEWP or scaffold, and the connections checked before the next trade. The same team erects primary frames, including crane-assisted lifts.

Can steelwork be combined with fall protection on the same site?

Yes. Structural steelwork is often paired with rooftop access, ladders and fall protection. One team can resource those packages together.
